If you’re still feeling energized from Kidu Kidu this past weekend (and we know you are), tonight we have two special guests at Powerhouse Blues! Eric Eltringham from L.A. will be teaching a drop-in class appropriate for any level, and Andrew Smith from Portland will be teaching an int/adv class on ‘texture’. So no matter where your blues stands, you’ll be sure to gain some new knowledge from these visiting instructors. Both classes will run from 7:30 to 9pm, then stick around till 11 for DJing from Andrew and Philly’s own Dan Repsch. See you there!

It’s the start of a new month, and the start of new series and happenings at LaB.

Downstairs: Drop-in Novice blues class with Jesse & Danielle.
Upstairs: the Kidu-Kidu Preview/Review series with Kerry, Jon, & Stuart that will prepare you for the festivities this weekend. In the weeks after, the series will review the concepts and moves that Skye & Frida taught in their classes.

9PM: Dance! Lindy and blues until midnight with Kerry & Jesse on the DJing.

Tonight Jon and Mike will be holding a feedback class (all levels, 7:30 – 9:00pm), for those who want to audition for the int/adv class, or who simply want constructive feedback on their blues dancing. Then stick around till 11:15 for the dance, DJd by Mike ‘the Girl’ Legett and Dan Repsch.

Special note: Next week we’ll have a guest instructor, Andrew Smith, teaching the int/adv class. More specific info on the class material to come!

There is a chance of snow throughout the day so I will be posting here to either confirm or cancel Rittenhop.

Hi all! Mike the Girl was scheduled to teach a class with Seth on drag blues, but as a result of an ankle injury, will be altering the class material a bit. It will still be an all-levels, drop-in class, and of course it will still be spectacular!

If you can’t make it to the class tonight, fear not!, there will be more of the best blues dancing in Philly immediately following the lesson as Mike ‘the Girl’ Legett and Dan Repsch spin tunes for us until 11:15pm!

Saturday, February 2/27 at 1pm-7PM, LaB is holding a Lindy Hop Crash Course at the Ethical Society Building. This crash course is for novice dancers (people who have had less than 8-10 hours of lindy hop instruction). It’s great for people who have never danced lindy hop before or dancers who want to brush up on their basics.

The east coast may have become a winter wonderland, but we’re still gonna’ be at the Ethical Society dancing to keep warm.

Please note, there is a winter storm warning in affect from 4:30PM on Tuesday through Wednesday night. Although we would love it if you came dancing and believe that the roads will still be navigable through the end of LaB, we want you to be safe. With that said, here’s what we have in store for you tonight!
