Hello ladies and gents!

This week Powerhouse Blues will be at our normal location at the Swing (the second floor of the Adrienne Theater, 2030 Sansom St), with our normal times (a lesson from 8:30 to 9:30 followed by a dance until midnight), and, of course, our normal price (only $5 for the whole night!).

The lesson will be featuring Stuart Collins who will be teaching part two of the choreography that he began last week.  Anyone who learns the whole thing and wants to perform it will have the opportunity to do just that at the LaBerat coming up at LaB Love in less than a week!  Of course, for those of you who don’t feel like performing and even if you didn’t make it to the first week, you are all more than welcome to come and learn regardless.

And, after the lesson, the dance will be DJed by myself and Stuart!

This week we are starting a two week mini series with Stuart Collins teaching a choreography that will be performed at the LaBaret at LaB Love!  However, if you don’t feel like performing it, there’s no pressure.  You’re still more than welcome to come and learn it anyway!

Holy Moly, it’s 2012, and we are finally having our first Powerhouse Blues of the year!

Josh and Moriah will be teaching a follow-up class to Josh’s solo movement class where he talked about how to make small changes to your solo movements to make entirely new moves. This week they’ll work on how to use those small changes to build series to movements to match the music! All are welcome, attending the first class is NOT mandatory.

After the lesson, our dance will be DJed by the talented and always entertaining Ben Chou!

This week will be a review of a class taught by Andrew Thigpen and Karen Turman.   Ever watch your favorite dance couple, and wonder how they seem to match all the highs and lows in the music?   The trick is a concept called phrasing, which lets you understand the flow of the music, which also helps you match the music even if you’ve never heard it before!   We’ll explore the fundamentals of phrasing, and how to apply it to both competition and social dancing!   Come join us for an hour of fun, musicality, and adventure!”
