Class Descriptions

All classes are appropriate for beginner/intermediate level Lindy Hop and blues dancers. If you are not yet familiar with the basics of both dance forms, we recommend you attend our introductory classes at LaB, take private lessons, and sign up for future workshops!

Saturday Class 1:
Frame Matching (blues)

We’ll discuss the methods of connection that give dancing an organic look and feel that is natural and comfortable. Frame Matching can create a more exact connection that widens the possibilities of lead/follow and will put you more in tune with your partner, thus opening up the possibilities for creativity and self-expression.

Saturday Class 2:
Cadence (blues)

Learn how to accelerate and decelerate movements to make them more dynamic and expressive. Punctuate the music in a new way!

Saturday Class 3:
Lead & Follow Theories (Lindy)

Ideas and exercises for improving your connection to make your dancing look and feel incredible.

Saturday Class 4:
Rhythm & Timing (Lindy)

Add some spice to your dancing with interesting rhythms in both connection and footwork/bodywork. Rhythm and timing are everywhere in swing music and can be an excellent embodiment of the music and partnership.

Sunday Class 1:
Partnered Charleston (Lindy)

Charleston in a rut? Transform your Charleston movement through liberation via the music, featuring slides and fancy footwork.

Sunday Class 2:
Fast Dancing (Lindy)

Get ready to go fast! We’ll teach you the technique to move your feet to upper tempo songs.

Sunday Class 3:
Musicality: Freezes, Slowmo, Levels, and Tempo Changes (blues)

we’ll apply frame matching to blues moves and movements, freezes, slow motion, level changes, and tempo changes.*We suggest prerequisite: Frame Matching for Blues Dancers.

Sunday Class 4:
Counterbalance Madness (blues)

Counterbalance is a fun and dynamic tool that can add a whole new level of stretch and intensity to your dance.
